Hi.  My name is Sydney and I want to welcome you to Trauma and Beyond; I’m happy you’re here.  Allow me to share a little bit about myself so you can see if we'd be a good fit to work together.

I'm a graduate of Western University’s MA Counselling Psychology program, and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Empathy and compassion will always be the foundation of how we work together.  In other words, your comfort, pacing, and you feeling heard and understood will be a part of every session, and at the heart of each intervention we use.  I strongly believe that therapy and healing must be client-centred and collaborative - so, you and I will work together to understand what you need, and how to do this in a way that speaks to what you value and desire for yourself and your life.

I've supported many people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, dealing with challenges that are both personal and clinical.  I also help people struggling with relatively new issues, and those who have been feeling 'stuck' for quite a while.


Finally, because I believe that therapy and healing require a variety of approaches at different times throughout the work, I've trained in, and skillfully use, a number of effective treatment modalities.  These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.  I can offer more information about these when we meet, and how we can use them to help you reach your goals.
